I think....

its true sometimes I do! lol ... that I might be rounding that corner... peeking cautiously around the edge to see if its all safe and clear.... not sure whom or what I would not like meet but I am building up the courage to peek...
I have lots to share... however today is not the day... I have snatched a few minutes to post this while Daniel is otherwise occupied with a film on telly... he was unwell last night.. I am not sure if it was/is a bug or if he's got grumbling big teeth... symptoms are tummy ache, red cheeks and earache... does sound tooth related to me but we'll see...!

My bestest "real life" buddy gave me a fabulous book which I want to share with you all... plus I have decided to drag out all my works in progress and share them all with you... and get them finished! yay!
and I am on a new being a better mother and housewife routine and this is the first week of my actually making a meal plan for teas this week and so far I have stuck to it... Monday was roast chicken... Tuesday I made chicken pie (with the left over meat... the cat and the dog love it when I strip the chicken carcass! lol) and tonight its sweetcorn fritters and sausages... and maybe some chipped potatoes... I haven't attempted sweetcorn fritters before so fingers crossed for me that Nigella's recipe is simple enough for me to follow!
Added at 9:55pm wednesday evening...... now I have to speak quietly as I am suppose to be going to bed... but I had to share a photo of my fritters with you... they were really easy too! ... once I found the right temperature to have the hob... still getting use to the instant heat of an induction hob... lol

In the spirit of getting both our arses in gear Joanne and I now do our food shopping together on a Monday morning and we have even found a lovely cafe to have breakfast in beforehand... plus there's a lovely charity shop next door, so every Monday I will endeavour to take one carrier bag of unwanted items in and possibly emerged with a new treasure .....

This Mondays treasure was ......
some lovely pink ware.... the teapot has a London port scene on it and the sugar bowl and jug has a Plymouth port scene...
This over sized mug was included in the set although its not the same design as it states  its a Grindley and co etching... however as its dishwasher and microwave proof its a modern piece but I love its vast size and the handle is so comfy...
I could not leave it behind.... not for a £4 purchase price... for the whole set!

I have been drinking from the cup since Monday..and have used the teapot several times... which pours beautifully...
Its amazing how £4 spent has given me so much pleasure...

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support...
all I need now is some sunshine one after noon so that I can spread out my works in progress on my bed and takes some pictures... perhaps you can jig me along and get me finishing them all...

Thank you
take care
Alex

My, that certainly was a georgrous bargain. Isn't it fabulous that such a small amount of money can bring so much pleasure!
Great idea to take a bag a week into the charity shop - I'll have to try and copy that idea too :o)

I'm stunned by that bargain - china is really expensive both in Edinburgh and French charity shops. I really love what you got there. Looking forward to seeing some WIP!

Hey honeybunch :)
I've been posting family menu's on the fridge for a while now and it's brilliant - there's not been moan about what's for tea for ages (just watch I'll have jinxed myself now) and it's cut my shopping bill right down too. Bonus!

I want to come for breakfast and charity shopping trips with you too - no fair! :( LOL

Have just enjoyed browsing through your blog and you have reminded me that I must visit charity shops more often! You have some lovely finds there.

I love that green teapot...... I know it wasn't what you were blogging about, but it is a lovely looking thing. Fritters look wonderful, I have often thought they sound lovely but have never made them. Sitting nodding my head in a knowing way with regard to unfinished "works in progress".....

I have to admit that the phrase, being a better housewife and mother, quite upset me, though not sure 'upset' is the word I want here. Why do women think they could be better, when they are in many cases, and yours included, doing the best they can at the time? We could possibly all say we could be better at something, and it's good to have goals, but often it's said in a way which makes us sound as if we feel we are not good enough in some way, it is putting us down. Have goals and dreams by all means, but don't run yourself down, or ragged, in the following of them, the accomplishment of them. Been there, done that, which is why I know it's better to make the best, the most, of who and what we are, rather than striving for the unattainable, or a dream image of how we think we should be. Or worse, how we think people expect us to be.
Sorry, off soapbox now.
Looking forward to the works in progress, and a good time of year to finish them all, ready for the new season, the end of winter and the beginning of spring, summer and all things bright and beautiful.
