I won a giveaway... I never win anything!

Look what I won....

I never win anything.... well not very often... and Nicola hosted a giveaway for all her favourite things and.... I WON!!!! I love it all and its already been tucked into (Danny had a couple chocolates...) and the bracelet is already being worn... I love jade! and the candles are on my new bureau... I must take a photo of that! and I can't wait till I can use the body butter... it has to be said that I don't take good care of myself so this is going to be a wonderful treat...
I had just run out of hot chocolate... what fabulous timing is that.... and the birthday cards are beautiful and have felt faces on the animals... the neon pens have unfortunately been snaffled by the almost teen girl... all things neon are "groovy!"

Thank you so much Nicola you are far toooooo kind...

Show and tell
I would like to show you my inherited China dinner service...
Mum and Dad were given this by my Auntie when they got married 51 years ago... I remember eating my dinners of these plates ... I wish I had some cereal bowls too but I am keeping an eye on eBay and buying the odd piece every now and again...

Its Royal Doulton D5334 Mindon ware and I think it dates from the 1930's and I have just bought a lidded vegetable terrine and I am watching a couple plates and 2 egg cups... sad I know!

The plates will eventually live on my new pine plate rack which currently lives in my mums garage...while we are getting the kitchen re-organised... I am not sure whether to just clean it up and wax it or paint it white... what do you think?

Now Mr P is (unfortunately) a smoker and I decided that if I must have ashtrays around the house then they should be pretty... this is my £2 bargain off eBay..

I love blue glass... well actually I am pretty much in love with anything shiny and sparkly I am definately a bit of a mad old magpie!

Swapsee's
now .... I have a couple of books that I was wondering if anyone might like to give a good home to... Firstly I don't fold tea bags ... I know that's not what it means... but if anyone would like to swap something for this book let me know...

If its a dead duck and no-one wants it I will pass it onto the church book stall...

and the second book is a sewing book so if you like to try your hand at making dinosaur toys or costumes this book is for you... I thought I might be able to make these but I think I have to face facts and realise that I am not a good sewist...
If you would like this book leave me a comment and I'll get in touch with you...

Grrrrrr!

Far too complicated for me! lol

I am off up the wooden hill to beddie byes...
thanks for stopping bye and I am not fully recovered but I am getting there and thank you all so much for your comments and well wishes...
Saturday was fantastic and Jamie had a super time "being a grown up" oh if only being a grown up were that simple... a trip to the cinema a meal out and a spot of shopping! if it were that simple I think I could deal with it...;D

Nighty night!

More chocolate......... I resisted chocolate till sunday night when I bogged into a huge bar of Cadburys Tiramisu (after having the grandgirls all day I needed it, glad you're feeling better. Love the dinner service, I'll keep and eye out at garage sales and op-shops, who knows. There was a lot of migrants in the 50's and 60's and they might have bought their dinner services with them.

Well done you, what a fabulous giveaway.

I love your dinner service and will keep my eyes peeled - as somebody else mentioned, checking on ebay is always a good idea.

Personally, I would paint your plate rack but all those hard-to-get-at bits, eek!

Congrats on winning the giveaway. Can't believe i missed that one!

I love that dinner set, hope you find the other pieces to go with it. I think the rack would be good painted but it does look like it would be a tricky job.

The teabag folding book looks interesting. I might quite like that but don't know what to offer in return. I'll have a think and let you know.

I adore your "new" china. I have no desire to have new dishes, but vintage ones would be welcomed. How nice too that you have a history with these. Good luck with the eBaying. I am addicted to eBay. jan

Hey you! :o)

I've been offline for most of the week....I was going to e-mail you today to see if you'd recieved the parcel of giveaway goodies! I sent a couple of things this month and one has gone missing, so I was hoping and praying yours hadn't too....so relived that it hasn't! I am soooooooooo pleased you liked everything!! :o)

Hmm, let's see....the dino book looks great! Bradley is mega 'IN' to dinosaurs at the moment!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend xx

Hope you're all better now.

Yes the dolls are for submission, so until I know wether they made the grade or not I can't put up piccys but I do have something similar on my other blog somewhere.

I was cruising round a few antique/vintage sites the other day but someone cleared the history in my favs so I can't rememberthe site I found which had your dinner service. Just Google it, but once you get in those sites its hard to get out of them. I could spend all day 'window' shopping'.

If you google royal doulton minden it takes you to a few sites - one is chinasearch.co.uk which shows what they have in the entire range. A bit pricey but at least it will give you an idea of prices.
