Do you have days that are technically bad but are actually enjoyable?

Hi all, well what a weekend.....
Danny (bless his heart) complained Thursday afternoon of not feeling well... I thought nothing of it really as he looked fine and has a tendency to say that if he's not getting to do what he wants... anyway by 2:30 am Friday morning he was spectacularly sick all over everything in his bedroom.... teach me not to believe him!

Anyway after stripping him down and washing him all over face hair the lot... I carried him downstairs while Mr P set about the task of de-yuckying his room...Mr P (big grateful hugs to the guy) went back to bed at 4am and Danny and I settled in on the settee for a long wait till morning... Danny eventually fell asleep at 5:30 am... I tried but failed... couldn't get comfy for love nor money... and Mr P was out the door by 6:30am to go to work...

Friday was on and off illness and he fell asleep at 6pm and I carried him to bed at 8pm where I settled down on a futon mattress on the floor to do some crochet and keep an eye on him... I snuck to bed at 10pm...

Saturday at 4am I was woken by the little man having a coughing fit and he was feeling very sorry for himself... he had a tickly unproductive cough and a streaming nose... so we went downstairs so as to not wake everyone else up and by 5:30am he was asleep again on the settee... So I searched through the sky listings and found a Agatha Christie film I had never heard of before "why didn't they ask Evans?"

and settled down to watch that... it was very good too!
it was in three 90 minute parts and I managed to watch 1 and a half before Danny woke up and wanted Tom and Jerry on... so I recorded the others to watch during the rest of the day when he slept... Mr P and Jamie did everything that day I did not have to lift a finger.. so in that sense it was a lovely day but Danny being ill was a not so good thing...

Saturday afternoon Danny was up and about... but not quite his usual self.... nibbling at food offerings and sipping his juice... but he was playing and being very alert...

Sunday we went to a local pub for my mum's birthday... and he seemed tired but was wandering around enjoying himself... but today he is so not right.... he's been a little sick this morning and has been gingerly sipping water... but when he wakes he's getting chattier, but he doesn't want the telly on and I am sat here quietly tapping away... Being a mum is sometimes so difficult... you don't care how tired you get the child needs loving and caring for and someone to rub their back and give them hugs... no matter how tired or rough you feel you just have to keep giving... you are also suppose to know when its time to call the doctor...
Who would have thought being a parent was soo tough...
and yet for the most part so rewarding...

I expect to be sleeping on the floor again tonight as I did last night from midnight to silly o'clock this morning when we got up... and hopefully he'll be better in the morning...

x Alex

It's horrible when our littlies are ill isn't it :( Hope he's soon on the mend and that you manage to get some rest too.

I am the worst nurse EVER, I hate it when my kids are ill (which they both are a bit at the moment). I think Mr P is amazing for clearing up sick, my other half absolutely can't go near it... apparently! Hope he is a lot better soon.

I've read that Agatha Christie and enjoyed it, they all do tend to blur together a bit after a while but is it one of those with the husband and wife team of detectives? If it is I never knew they'd filmed any of those ones!

I am so sorry Danny is so sick! Enjoy your movies and crochet and try to get some rest!!!
Hugs,
Jenn
PS Makes me wonder if this throwing up can be transmitted over the ocean as poor Harmony went there last night in her crib. The laundry is done at least :)

Dear Alex
As I read this post it reminded me of the children's picture book "Peace at Last" by Jill Murphy - you are the long suffering Mum depicted in that story :-)
It also made me think, oh blige, we have all this to come when we adopt.... aaah better enjoy my sleep now whilst I can!!
Take care - sounds as though you're all on the mend now,
D x
PS: Spooky or what?! My word verification is: MENDD ......!!!!!
