I won a giveaway... I never win anything!

Look what I won....

I never win anything.... well not very often... and Nicola hosted a giveaway for all her favourite things and.... I WON!!!! I love it all and its already been tucked into (Danny had a couple chocolates...) and the bracelet is already being worn... I love jade! and the candles are on my new bureau... I must take a photo of that! and I can't wait till I can use the body butter... it has to be said that I don't take good care of myself so this is going to be a wonderful treat...
I had just run out of hot chocolate... what fabulous timing is that.... and the birthday cards are beautiful and have felt faces on the animals... the neon pens have unfortunately been snaffled by the almost teen girl... all things neon are "groovy!"

Thank you so much Nicola you are far toooooo kind...

Show and tell
I would like to show you my inherited China dinner service...
Mum and Dad were given this by my Auntie when they got married 51 years ago... I remember eating my dinners of these plates ... I wish I had some cereal bowls too but I am keeping an eye on eBay and buying the odd piece every now and again...

Its Royal Doulton D5334 Mindon ware and I think it dates from the 1930's and I have just bought a lidded vegetable terrine and I am watching a couple plates and 2 egg cups... sad I know!

The plates will eventually live on my new pine plate rack which currently lives in my mums garage...while we are getting the kitchen re-organised... I am not sure whether to just clean it up and wax it or paint it white... what do you think?

Now Mr P is (unfortunately) a smoker and I decided that if I must have ashtrays around the house then they should be pretty... this is my £2 bargain off eBay..

I love blue glass... well actually I am pretty much in love with anything shiny and sparkly I am definately a bit of a mad old magpie!

Swapsee's
now .... I have a couple of books that I was wondering if anyone might like to give a good home to... Firstly I don't fold tea bags ... I know that's not what it means... but if anyone would like to swap something for this book let me know...

If its a dead duck and no-one wants it I will pass it onto the church book stall...

and the second book is a sewing book so if you like to try your hand at making dinosaur toys or costumes this book is for you... I thought I might be able to make these but I think I have to face facts and realise that I am not a good sewist...
If you would like this book leave me a comment and I'll get in touch with you...

Grrrrrr!

Far too complicated for me! lol

I am off up the wooden hill to beddie byes...
thanks for stopping bye and I am not fully recovered but I am getting there and thank you all so much for your comments and well wishes...
Saturday was fantastic and Jamie had a super time "being a grown up" oh if only being a grown up were that simple... a trip to the cinema a meal out and a spot of shopping! if it were that simple I think I could deal with it...;D

Nighty night!

Mr P emailed me yesterday asking if I needed him to get anything on the way home... I had run out of tissues so I asked him to get some nice ones to calm my bright red sniffler...

I also requested some energy and a miracle cure for this horrible head cold... he wasn't sure if the little Tesco's that he passes on the way home had either but he'd take a look...

The chocolate is for energy and the whiskey is the miracle cure....
Nurofen is my drug of choice and lovely soft tissues for my delicate little nose... and I can tell you there is little delicate about my family nose and you sure can pack a load of yuck into my beak...

Today is Jamie's birthday and I have arranged to take her and a friend to town shopping and then onto the cinema where they will be watching The Lightening Thief and Joanne and I will be watching Valentines Day.... well Joanne will be watching and I will be quietly sniffing... ;D

we are then going to Pizza Hut for our tea... then home again

Mr P asked last night if I were really going out today in the state I am in... I pointed out that I had little choice as it was all booked and its her 12th birthday and unfair to cancel... he said he could go instead... where upon I giggled and said that I didn't think Joannes husband would be too chuffed if he took her to the cinema to watch Valentines Day... because I know how much Joanne is looking forward to a day out and to be honest I am relishing the thought of being out and not responsible for a investigative 4 year old... who seems to be climbing everything at the moment.... no... come hell or high water

"I am going out today, and I am going to have a ruddy good time"

whatever the head cold from hell thinks... I will be eating hot dogs (don't tell me what they are made from!!) and drinking fizzy but I might miss the popcorn... it makes me cough when I am not ill... lol

So I hope you all have lovely weekends

Keep warm, well and safe

Thank you

Are there more germs and viruses out there this year or are we just a very unhealthy and unlucky household ?

Well Danny is on the mend and thank you all so much for your well wishes and comments, to be honest this is my first long sit at the laptop, I have had my messages read to me by my dear daughter and she has then published them for me as I was struck down by the Sickness and "yes you've guessed it" bug.... anyway I am feeling a little better if somewhat washed out.

Jamie is off school today, full of cold so hopefully she will be all better by next week as its her 12th birthday.

Mr P has soldiered on and even though his work colleagues are dropping like flies he is managing to stay clear of it all (at the moment).

So this is just a quick visit to say thank you and to let you all know that we are recovering well.

Wishing you all a happy Wednesday
and to my friends who have snow, keep warm and stay safe
and to those of you dealing with bugs and nasties big supportive hugs
and to those in warmer climes and full of health and vitality.... you lucky beggars! lol

Do you have days that are technically bad but are actually enjoyable?

Hi all, well what a weekend.....
Danny (bless his heart) complained Thursday afternoon of not feeling well... I thought nothing of it really as he looked fine and has a tendency to say that if he's not getting to do what he wants... anyway by 2:30 am Friday morning he was spectacularly sick all over everything in his bedroom.... teach me not to believe him!

Anyway after stripping him down and washing him all over face hair the lot... I carried him downstairs while Mr P set about the task of de-yuckying his room...Mr P (big grateful hugs to the guy) went back to bed at 4am and Danny and I settled in on the settee for a long wait till morning... Danny eventually fell asleep at 5:30 am... I tried but failed... couldn't get comfy for love nor money... and Mr P was out the door by 6:30am to go to work...

Friday was on and off illness and he fell asleep at 6pm and I carried him to bed at 8pm where I settled down on a futon mattress on the floor to do some crochet and keep an eye on him... I snuck to bed at 10pm...

Saturday at 4am I was woken by the little man having a coughing fit and he was feeling very sorry for himself... he had a tickly unproductive cough and a streaming nose... so we went downstairs so as to not wake everyone else up and by 5:30am he was asleep again on the settee... So I searched through the sky listings and found a Agatha Christie film I had never heard of before "why didn't they ask Evans?"

and settled down to watch that... it was very good too!
it was in three 90 minute parts and I managed to watch 1 and a half before Danny woke up and wanted Tom and Jerry on... so I recorded the others to watch during the rest of the day when he slept... Mr P and Jamie did everything that day I did not have to lift a finger.. so in that sense it was a lovely day but Danny being ill was a not so good thing...

Saturday afternoon Danny was up and about... but not quite his usual self.... nibbling at food offerings and sipping his juice... but he was playing and being very alert...

Sunday we went to a local pub for my mum's birthday... and he seemed tired but was wandering around enjoying himself... but today he is so not right.... he's been a little sick this morning and has been gingerly sipping water... but when he wakes he's getting chattier, but he doesn't want the telly on and I am sat here quietly tapping away... Being a mum is sometimes so difficult... you don't care how tired you get the child needs loving and caring for and someone to rub their back and give them hugs... no matter how tired or rough you feel you just have to keep giving... you are also suppose to know when its time to call the doctor...
Who would have thought being a parent was soo tough...
and yet for the most part so rewarding...

I expect to be sleeping on the floor again tonight as I did last night from midnight to silly o'clock this morning when we got up... and hopefully he'll be better in the morning...

Which child are you?

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

Well I was born on the sabbath day (i think !!!) so I appear to be bonny and blithe, and good and gay...!

Apparently blithe is not just a captain of the high seas... I am of a happy lighthearted character... which is more appealing than the sea sickness and scurvy ...

Now Jamie is Friday's child... loving and giving... and she does have her moments... she puts on a tough exterior but judging by her often being hurt by thoughtless peoples words and actions I think she is very capable of being loving and giving...

Daniel is Tuesday's child and full of grace... he's not so graceful when he takes a tumble but the midwife when he was born swore blind he was a girl (even though she had seen him completely) saying he was far too pretty to be a boy...

Mr P... I think he is Thursdays child and apparently he has far to go... I am not really sure what the meaning of this is... he has travelled with his work from the Falkland Islands to the States and most of Europe.... he still has a little more to go... lol and has worked his way up from shop floor to become an Electronics Engineer... he has worked so hard and has to fight for most jobs as companies favour a degree more than good old capability and hands on knowledge...

Which child are you?

Postie parcel...

from Created and Felted handmade bags....
recently Claire has asked for fellow bloggers to visit her shop and give their opinion of her shop and items she has for sale... the best thing about this survey is that you get the chance to win one of her lovely creations..and you have till the 25th of February to get your name in the hat

However I loved her little pod purses and treated myself to one...

its a perfect little pouch, and as she says in her description they would be ideal for a little gift to be sent in say a necklace of a ring...

Hand felting is exhausting... I only felted 5 small hearts and it took such a lot of shoulder breaking effort, so much time effort and love goes into these creations because to be honest if you didn't love creating these works of art you would not put yourself through it all...lol
once you have agitated it in soapy water then you have to shape it and pad it out leaving it to dry... which takes up space and a fair amount of time...

I love it and I will start saving my pennies so that I can commission a lovely bag to go with it...

take care everyone
hugs
Alex
