Apologies for my disappearance....
I have just popped in to let you all know that I hope to return to cheerful blogging in the near future unfortunately Danny was horrendously sick last Saturday night and it was completely out of the blue... no feeling ill that day or anything...
The week progressed with bouts of being sick and by Wednesday I took him to the doctors with ear ache and a temperature again....
The doctor just said it was "bad luck" and that he was catching everything going and to keep an eye on him... as I left the surgery the doctor came out and as an almost after thought suggested that I get a wee sample....
So Thursday and Friday were spent trying to talk a sickly, sleepy and completely unhappy 4 year old into the benefits and merits of peeing in a small bottle.... eventually at 6pm Friday he did it and I raced through 2 villages (in my car... I don't do running!) to get to the surgery before 6:30pm.... as it turned out Danny has a urine infection and although the doctor would prefer for Danny to have more tests he gave him some antibiotics... after 2 days of "the yucky medicine" Danny's words! he has improved slightly but I am still worried and sleeping on the floor in his room... yes I know I am an over protective mummy! but I swear I do not mean to treat him as my precious little boy but he is so not right!
I think I might take him over to the doctors again tomorrow... he is still getting spells of being hot and his ears are still blocked and bothering him... he hasn't eaten since last Sunday and I want my chatty little boy back.... I never thought I would but I miss his incessant babbling... ;D
Has anyone had any experience of a little one with a urine infection?...
I had no idea that something like this would make him sooooo poorly!
hope you all had a super mothers day, the weather was glorious down here... I received a fabulous parcel from Jenn (yarn addicts anonymous) and thank you so much... as soon as I have a spare 5 mins and can track down my camera I will post some pictures of my beautiful felted slippers she made me and thank you to Joanne for the beautiful tulips... and to Nicola for the lovely card... I am so lucky to have such wonderful blogland friends...
big hugs everyone
Alex

Update 15th March 2010....
Thank you everyone..... it was strange but once I had posted and then sorted out Mr P and Jamie I carried my crochet upstairs to sit for a while on the floor making and Danny announced he was hungry and what did we have to eat! Yay..... and then he started chatting about everything and anything.... with sudden rests saying I am tired.... and then once he'd built up steam again he'd chat a bit more... I think the golden 48 hours of antibiotics has kicked in and I think he is getting there.... he even told me that he would love a sausage roll from the shop "as they taste really nice"..... just have to get him good and strong and then we might be back to normal for the rest of the year! here's hopping!
The doctor I saw on Friday said he still wants to investigate further with another wee sample 5 days after the antibiotics are finished as a urine infection in a boy of his age is rare.... fingers crossed its just a glitch and nothing to do with kidney function!
big hugs and I am all better, just worn out and tired.... but aren't we all at the moment!
loving the sunshine though.... when I manage to get away from my little man to hang the washing on the line! lol

Oh poor Danny! I hope he feels better soon. I can't remember either of mine having a urinary infection but, generally with antibiotics, they should start to kick in after about 48 hours so, if there is still no improvement tomorrow then I would see the doc again. And you absolutely should treat him as your precious little boy - because he is! I am sure any other mother would do the same - I certainly would.
Hugs

Alex,
Didn't think of it in my other emails..and you are saying he's not feeling much better. Did they check him for an ear infection(or even in both ears)? My best friends daughter would get one after another and she had trouble with the doctor's too. Lizzy finally had tubes put in about a year and a half ago and has been fine since. And thinking back a couple of months, when Lizzy had a urinary tract infection, her ears didn't bother her, she did have a fever and was in pain though, but antibiotics had her feeling almost herself the next day and Melodie's recent ear infections had her with a fever and feeling poor, but within a day she was her bouncy, can't sit still or keep quiet self. Just some rambling thoughts of an over-tired mama. Glad you enjoyed your package, eat some chocolate!!!!
Oh poor love it never rains when it can pour does it :(
Neither of my two have had urine infections but I have had the pleasure and I remember the first set of antibiotics actually made me feeling worse, when the Dr got his results back he swiftly changed them and I started to feel human again.
Here's to him feeling better soon and you being exhausted by his constant chatter and running around.
Are you feeling all better now after you being poorly?
((((hugs)))) for all.
I wouldn't hesitate in whipping him back over to see the doctor again... Hope by the time you read this he is on the mend. Hang in there Mum.
I don't think you're being precious. Danny will be all the better for knowing you're right there for him.
Thankfully we avoided most sickness bugs in our house. Apart from the occasional late night bedroom visit when one of them would wake us with their projectile vomit across our bed! Oh, happy days!
Hope Danny is on the mend soon.

Oh dear, what a shame. You're doing the right thing though - just keep on persisting with the doctor if necessary and don't be fobbed off. At least the antibiotics have kicked in. Keep us posted on his progress.
Take care.

Oh bless you, you have had a tough time. When one of your children is poorly it's like having a black cloud hanging over you, isn't it? Having read your update, it sounds as though the antibiotics are slowly doing their stuff. I know of an adult who had a urine infection and they had to have two weeks of strong antibiotics to get rid of it.
I would echo what the others have said about hassling the doctor if you're still not happy - nobody knows your little boy as well as you.
Here's to you having a lovely belated mothers' day very soon!
Hx
Little boys usually bounce back from infections. Sounds like he had a tough one to beat, but I'm getting the impression he's already on the mend. Hang in there Mom :)

Aww your poor little boy has not been having a nice time of it lately, but your update suggests he is feeling better so that is good news. Take care X
Glad to see your little one is making a recovering, dont forget to look after yourself too.
Karen
Bless your heart. There's about nothing as exhausting as taking care of and worrying about a little one. I hope you get a good long amount of crafty rest soon. jan
So glad your little man is feeling better. It is so scary when they are sick. Lovely blog you have!
Oh, I am happy to hear that he is feeling a bit better and brighter too! He will have a lot of chattering to catch up on! :) suzie xxx
